Brampton Cricket League completed their inaugural season with a big bang! In the finals Island Boyz Cricket Club met with Challengers Cricket Club. Both teams put up a good fight, but Island Boyz prevailed in the rain delayed game.
Challengers Cricket Club batted first making 168 runs in 43 overs. Significant batting contributions came from Avneet Singh 41 runs and Brahmjot Singh 37 runs. Bowling contribution from Island Boyz were matched by Ryan Pittman 10 overs 28 runs 3 wickets, and Abdool Rahim 10 overs 35 runs 3 wickets.
The task of chasing 168 runs was a small one for Island Boyz who chased it down in 28 overs for the loss of 3 wickets. Significant batting contributions from Abdool Rahim 52 (not out) who steered his team home to a man of the match performance and a competitive victory. From Challengers CC, Agampreet Singh completed 5 overs for 39 runs and 2 wickets.
The match was played in great spirits and officiated by Muhammad Sham and Denny Eapen. Both officials praised the standard of play and the competitive yet friendly atmosphere of the game.
Island Boyz Cricket Club hosted the Inaugural Brampton Cricket League trophy and winning prize of $2000 sponsored by Easy Way Financial and presented by Faraz Saleem, President BCL.
This match marks the successful completion of the Brampton Cricket League and the teams, management and officials are anxiously waiting for a short winter and a quick flight into spring.
