The Fundraiser Gala 2009 held in Brampton, organized by the Chairman of Manzal Humanitarian Foundation, Rtd. Sgt. Mohammad Nazir was a success with an attendance of over 700 guests to donate generously for the Guru Nanak ji/Baba Farid Trust hospital. Mr. Mohammad Nazir was the first Asian to join the force. Retiring after 25 years, Mr. Nazir registered the Manzal Humanitarian Foundation with the Canadian Government and was given charity status for the purpose of building Guru Nanak ji/Baba Farid Trust Hospital.
The generous spirits of the Punjabis emerged with the beats of the dhol joining a vibrant dance by Canadian Punjabi Dance Academy and a breathtaking performance by the Dhol Circle. The generous crowd showered several dollar bills at the dancing crew, all going towards the noble cause of building Guru Nanak Ji/Baba Farid Trust Hospital at the Holy City of Nankana Sahib, Pakistan. The pockets of the audience were happily emptied at the same pace as the beat of the dhol grew faster and faster amounting to $3,400 for the night. Later in the evening, performances by Roach Killa and Prita Chhabra were thoroughly enjoyed by the attendees.
Since March 2007, Guru Nank ji/ Baba Farid Walk-in clinic located across from Gurdwara Janamstan has been serving hundreds of patients in need of medical care. Manzal Humanatarian Foundation is now ready to build Phase1 of the hospital.
