Aaradhya has been under constant media scanner. She was clicked wherever she goes.

When Hindustan Times asked the actress how Aaradhya deals with the paparazzi, she said, “I haven’t made a conversation out of it. She is a child and I can’t casually say that she understands it. Aaradhya has seen it (the media attention) since she was a baby, while I was exposed to it only in my twenties. Is it normal to her? I don’t know…”

On the work front, Aishwarya will be seen next on the big screen in Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra’s musical comedy ‘Fanne Khan’, co-starring Anil Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao. She has reportedly signed a bold thriller to be helmed by Rohan Sippy.

New mommy Soha Ali Khan talks about her new phase of motherhood

Posted on 07 March 2018 by admin

Soha Ali Khan became a mother on September 29, 2017 and her world has changed ever since. Her daughter Inaaya Naumi Kemmu is the apple of her eye. Soha’s cheeks pink up as she talks about holding her bundle of joy. “When you undergo scans, you’re aware someone is inside you. You see the baby taking form. But nothing prepares you for the joy you experience when you first hold your newborn in your arms. You’ve created a life and all this has happened without any laboratory or engineering. It’s just Kunal (Kemmu) and me and then this person comes out with 10 fingers, 10 toes… a perfect human being!” She mentions she’s no longer in control of her life, which now revolves around Inaaya. “She controls when I eat, what I eat, my sleep, my TV viewing – she’s the boss,” laughs Soha.

It’s normal for mothers to undergo postpartum blues and Soha is no exception. Hormonal changes can assault a woman’s body post pregnancy and she understands it’s just a phase. “A new mother goes through ups and downs, you get blues, you get depressed, you feel bad as everyone is going out to party and you’ve got to be at home. You can’t do certain things. I tried to remain balanced about it. But I’ve had breakdowns in the early weeks,” she confides.

Thankfully, her husband Kunal is a hands-on father and has been her pillar of strength throughout. It took her some time to bond with Inaaya but Kunal took to his daughter as soon as he saw her. “Kunal’s extremely supportive. He stays up nights with me. If I feed her, he burps her. He plays with her, lulls her to sleep,” she says about sharing parental responsibilities. She talks fondly of Inaaya’s bond with her dad. “She looks at him nowadays and smiles. There’s something special between a daughter and a father. I’ve been experienced that with my own father. It’s something you can’t explain.”

Soha mentions that she’s trying to grasp what Inaaya’s different crying sounds mean. “The sounds for every situation are different. The vary depending on whether she’s hungry, sleepy, bored or has just wet herself. Earlier I used to be confused. But now, I’m getting the hang of it,” she smiles. She reveals that her bond with husband Kunal has deepened ever since they turned parents. “Inaaya has half of him and half of me. I often wonder who I love more – Kunal or Inaaya! Who’s number one in my life? And it’s impossible to answer,” she shares.

Soha’s lucky that sister-in-law Kareena Kapoor Khan, whose son Taimur turned a year recently, is a new mother herself and is at hand to advise. “If I’ve any question, any doubts, whether it’s about consulting a paediatrician, hiring nurses… anything, Kareena is just a call away,” she says. Soha has grown emotionally close to Kareena, thanks to both being young mothers. “Kareena’s given me so many tips that I can write another book,” she says. Mom Sharmila Tagore is there to help as well and so is sister Saba Ali Khan. “Mom says it’s been 38 years since she had a baby. So things have changed. She advises me to look after myself as being a new parent takes its toll. And it’s true because I haven’t enjoyed uninterrupted sleep ever since Inaaya was born,” she shares. Soha says Saba is a hands-on aunt and often comes over to babysit Inaaya. “Saba’s two years older to me. She’s always been protective. The first time I changed Inaaya’s diapers, it was a mess,” she giggles adding, “Saba helped me!” The baby pictures of Taimur and Inaaya recently created a stir on the internet.

“They look a bit like each other. They are cousins after all. He’s her elder brother. Hope he will protect her in the near future,” she says.

It’s commendable that amidst the various joys and pains of being a first-time mother, Soha found time to write a book. Titled The Perils of Being Moderately Famous, it’s an anecdotal book containing stories about growing up in a household where everyone was more famous than her. Her father, Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi was one of the most dashing Indian cricketers, mother Sharmila Tagore was a top marquee star, brother Saif Ali Khan is a top star currently and so is sister-in-law Kareena Kapoor Khan. She says the book explains what it’s like to be related to such illustrious people. “They are part of my identity. It also talks about being famous and being an actor in India where Bollywood is such a big industry. One can easily believe the world that revolves around you and there’s nothing else out there. People often go through their lives imagining that,” she reveals. Saif and she share the same kind of dry English humour and Soha informs that he liked those parts where she’s described the various journeys taken together as a family.

Nepotism is something most people hailing from famous families are often accused of and Soha believes while it does open doors, the struggle begins there. “There are benefits that come from belonging to a famous family. You get a certain amount of access to directors, producers, actors…,”she says. “You may get an appointment with someone. People will answer your phone, they will reply to your message, they will be polite with you, they will entertain you because you are so and so’s daughter or sister. But that doesn’t mean that you will get the job. Talent and hard work count more. You have to prove yourself in the field,” she cautions.

She admits that thanks to her family, she escaped the clutches of the casting couch. “Here, people do talk about things like sexual harassment. But I’m fortunate because everyone has treated me with love and respect. I know people will not mess with me.” She’s a romantic at heart and the mayhem and madness of moviemaking is what attracted her to the business in the first place. “They say if you can find a job you love, you don’t have to work a day in your life. So, if you can turn what you love into your career, then you can have a happy life.” And it’s this passion that has compelled her into turning a producer. She’s excited that both Kunal and she are taking this plunge together. Their first film as producers is based on the life of legal dignitary Ram Jethmalani. “Ram Jethmalani has represented so many people, criminals, politicians. He’s been involved in the most high-profile cases – from Manu Sharma (convicted in the Jessica Lall murder case) to the Indira Gandhi assassination. His current passion is to bring black money back to India. It’s a story that needed to be told. Hence, we launched our production company to do that,” she gushes.

Acting-wise, she’ll soon start shooting for Tigmanshu Dhulia’s Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster3. She’s going to be part of another thriller as well. Soha maintains she’s fortunate that she doesn’t have to work for a living and can indulge in her passion. “I’m lucky to have financial security. I do work that I want to do. It needn’t be a big-budget film and opposite a big hero. It should be a role that I enjoy doing. Otherwise, I can sit at home or go off on a holiday and do things that I find interesting,” she says not before adding, “But I’m ambitious. There’s still a lot to achieve.”

The quirky trailer of Irrfan Khan starrer Blackmail would have definitely intrigued you! But did you know that the film was inspired by real life incidents? Yes, writer Parveez Shaikh recently stated that he has based the film on a real life couple.

For the uninitiated, Blackmail is a black comedy based on the life of a middle-class couple. When the husband realizes that his wife is cheating on him, he decides to blackmail her instead of confronting. This in turn leads to series of a few unfortunate events where he ends up being blackmailed for extorting money from his wife.

Speaking on the film, writer Parveez Shaikh revealed about meeting such a couple in real life. He said, “The story is based on a couple I know. They live outside Mumbai. I decided to place these characters in a city I know best and see how the story progresses from there.” He further added “It took me three months to finish the first draft of the story. I had written it six years ago.” The writer also maintained about he often likes to keep a keen eye on the happenings around. In the process, he has confessed about stumbling upon stories that are stranger-than-fiction.

If recent reports are to be believed, Parveez and the director of the film Abhinay Deo have taken all necessary permissions. From what we hear, even the couple on whom the film is based on, is aware of it. It was, however, under their request, that their identity is being retained as a secret. Rani Mukerji to hold first screening of Hichki for school teachers

Posted on 01 March 2018 by admin

Rani Mukerji is going to host the first screening of her new film, Hichki, for teachers of various schools. Rani plays the character of Naina Mathur, a teacher who has Tourette Syndrome that forces an individual to make involuntary repetitive movements or sounds.

“Our endeavour with this initiative is primarily to recognise this humble profession of teaching and secondly to show our film first to this noble teacher’s community and get to understand what they feel when they watch it. We are showing Hichki to 319 school teachers representing 260 plus schools from across the country,” says Manan Mehta, VP – Marketing and Syndication, Yash Raj Films.

Hichki is a positive, uplifting story of someone who tries to stare down her weaknesses and also become an inspiration to the youth. Hichki focuses on turning disadvantages into opportunities and staring down at challenges that life throws at one and ultimately winning over them. It is also a subtle reminder about discrimination that exists in our society and has become a part of our daily lives. It highlights this through the story of Naina, who faces discrimination from our society that firmly believes she cannot be a teacher because of her disorder.

Directed by Siddharth P Malhotra and produced by Maneesh Sharma, the movie is set to touch the hearts of audiences when it releases on March 23 and will be a comeback on screen for Rani after Mardani.

Sara Ali Khan signed opposite Ranveer Singh in Rohit Shetty’s Simmba

Posted on 01 March 2018 by admin

Ranveer Singh, who is all set to impress in Simmba, finally gets a leading lady. It is a known fact that Rohit Shetty announced his upcoming venture with Ranveer last year. While he was on a hunt for a perfect leading lady, it finally seems to have ended. The filmmaker found Ranveer’s heroine in Sara Ali Khan.

Yes, the very same Sara Ali Khan, daughter of Saif Ali Khan, who is debuting in Bollywood with Kedarnath. It doesn’t come as a surprise considering that grapevine is abuzz with reports of the same. In fact, many of reports claimed that she was in the running for the role alone with another star kid Janhvi Kapoor. However, Sara seems to have bagged the film eventually.

Quite obviously, it will be a big jump for her career to feature opposite the Padmaavatsuperstar Ranveer Singh. Sources claim that this move is a consequence of the entire Kedarnath controversy. For the ones who have been following Bollywood news, the director Abhishek Kapoor and producers of Kedarnath had massive fallout. Although later Abhishek Kapoor took to social media to show all is fine, we hear that the parents of Sara Ali Khan, Amrita Singh and Saif, were quite upset with the recent turn of events.

Hence, it is being said that Kareena Kapoor Khan and Saif Ali Khan intervened. Sources claim that the concerned duo put in a good word to Karan Johar. Karan is the producer of Simmba and a close friend of both the actors. It seems that the producer too obliged to their requests. If rumours are to be believed, then Karan convinced director Rohit Shetty to sign Sara for Simmba.

Saif and Kareena believe that Simmba will be a turning point in Sara’s career. One of the reasons for the same is the immense curiosity attached with the film already. Not only does it mark the debut collaboration of Rohit Shetty and Ranveer Singh but it also marks the return of Ranveer in the masala-entertainment genre.

On the other hand, Ranveer Singh will also be seen in a full-fledged action role in this remake. Yes, Simmba is the Hindi remake of the Telugu film Temper. Featuring Ranveer in the role of Sangram Bhalerao, the film is expected to release on December 28 this year.
